Neighbor Notification in Erie County
Mandatory Prior Notification Just Makes Sense

TAKE ACTION TODAY!

The Pesticide Neighbor Notification law was passed with the provision that it will be formally reviewed in October 2004 and must be re-enacted at the end of the year. Below are four things you can do to help make sure that Erie County renews the Pesticide Neighbor Notification law next year.

1) Click HERE to send your County Representative and County Executive Joel Giambra an e-mail in support of Neighbor Notification.

2) Call or write your county legislator and County Executive Joel Giambra today. Click HERE to get the name and phone number of your county representative. If you don't know who represents you call the Erie County Board of Elections at (716) 858-8891. Tell them to support and co-sponsor the Pesticide Neighbor Notification Law re-authorization for Erie County.

3) Click HERE to join NYPIRG's e-mail activist list to receive updates and alerts on Neighbor Notification meetings and public hearings in Erie County.
For more information on the campaign in Erie County contact NYPIRG's regional office at (716) 568-1039 or e-mail mdavoli@nypirg.org.

Additionally, please take a look at the latest pesticide maps for Erie County. These maps, courtesy of NYPIRG's Computer Mapping Assistance Project (CMAP), document the high level of pesticide use across Erie County by commercial pesticide applicators. Many of the very pesticides included in the numbers used to generate these maps are known, probable or possible carcinogens.
