Preserve our Democracy and Get Paid Up to $460 How would like help protect democracy and earn up to $460 at the same time? You can by working at the polls this year! Remember the 2000 Presidential Election — the mass confusion, turmoil, and contested vote totals that arose from a confusing ballot design, hanging chads and flawed election administration? Watch out! This year’s anticipated massive turnout at the polls coupled with the availability of new voting systems threatens that sort of chaos here in New York. You can help prevent Election Day problems by signing up as a poll worker. The Board of Elections needs help this year. Poll workers must be at least 18 years of age by election day and either citizens or U.S. residents. Poll workers can make up to $460 for attending training and working on primary and Election Day in New York. Join NYPIRG’s campaign to help protect the rights of voters this year. New York City Residents: You can download a poll worker application here. Live outside of NYC? Click here for more information on where to request a poll worker application for your county. Find your county BOE and contact them directly. http://www.elections.state.ny.us/CountyBoards.html
