NYC Residents: Which Poll Worker Position is Best for You?

Inspector / Poll Clerk – This is the position that the city has the most openings for. You must be at least 18 years of age by Election Day, a U.S. citizen, NYC resident, and registered to vote in either the Democratic or Republican Party. Duties include: opening the polls, ensuring affidavits ballots are completed correctly, demonstrating the proper use of the voting machines, and collecting completed voter cards from voters. Interpreter – You must be at least 18 years of age by Election Day, a permanent U.S. resident, NYC resident, and be fluent in English and either Spanish, Chinese, or Korean. The Interpreter assists non-English speaking voters by translating voting information given by the Inspector and answers voter questions. The Interpreter may also assist non-English and limited-English speaking voters in voting booths.

Information Clerk – You must be at least 18 years of age by Election Day, a permanent U.S resident, NYC resident, and fluent in English. Duties include sitting near the entrance and directing voters to their correct voting booth. Download an Application Here

Door Clerk – You must be at least 18 years of age by Election Day, a permanent U.S resident, and a NYC resident. Duties include: ensuring that the alternate entrance is accessible throughout the day and monitoring the entrance to prevent unauthorized individuals from entering. Door Clerk assists but does not provide physical help to disabled voters entering the site. Download an Application Here
