Many voices, one campaign.
We need to act now to build an energized and focused grassroots movement that is fit to take on the fossil fuel industries. We need a movement that is powerful and nimble, ready to respond quickly, and act effectively.
Become an Ally
Allies are organizations that have partnered with NYPIRG and 1Sky and hundreds of groups across the country to demand federal clean energy solutions. Allies may simply endorse the campaign by adding their name to a national list of other Allied organizations, or they can do more. For a list of current Allies, please scroll down.
In addition to endorsement, Allies may:
- Actively recruit other allies, climate precinct captains, or citizen activists;
- May be asked to sign onto and/or help circulate letters to members of Congress or the state legislature;
- May be asked to respond to and help circulate occasional email action alerts;
- May be asked to help generate letters, emails, and/or calls to members of Congress or the state legislature;
- Help generate media attention for the Campaign by offering quotes, public remarks or press commentaries; or
- Attend community events and lobby days to help educate the public and our members of Congress or the state legislature about the dangers of climate change and the need for immediate legislative action.
Allies will have the full support of NYPIRG and 1Sky in any activities they undertake. Allies will be provided with materials and access to organizing web tools, among other things.
If you are interested in becoming an Ally or would like some more information, please take a moment and fill in the information below.
Climate Precinct Captains
Climate Precinct Captains (CPCs) are lead volunteers. They will be trained by NYPIRG and 1Sky to help organize citizen activists within their congressional and legislative districts to action. If you can devote about an hour a week to organizing, have a passion for saving the environment, and are excited by the challenge, then sign up below.
CPC’s will receive training to host events, generate media attention, lobby Congress and other policy makers through letter and email writing and visits, and help to lead volunteers in their community.
Role of Citizen Activists
Already, thousands of ordinary people have already signed up to be a citizen activists. Citizen activists will become part of a rapid response network of volunteers who care about the environment and pledge to respond to email action alerts, attend community events relating to climate change, sign and circulate letters to members of Congress and the state legislature.
If you would like to add your name to list of individuals who care about the environment and would like to be notified of opportunities to get involved, please fill in the form below.
