What is TAP?
The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), begun in 1974, provides financial aid to eligible, full-time New York State residents, based on a sliding income scale. The program enables thousands of New York State residents to become full-time students at a college of their choice in New York State. TAP, an entitlement program, enables all eligible students to receive an award. In 1999-2000, TAP provided $587 million in grants to more than 257,000 students.

What is EOP?
SUNY's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is a program of academic support and financial assistance for disadvantaged New York State students who show promise for mastering college-level work, as long as they receive additional assistance.

What is SEEK/CD?
Search for Education, Elevation and Knowledge (SEEK) and College Discovery (CD) are the two special programs of CUNY for students who need academic and financial support in order to compete successfully in college. SEEK is a program available at CUNY's senior (4 year) colleges and its senior technical college (NY City Tech). College Discovery is a program available at CUNY's community (2 year) colleges. These programs provide concentrated and specialized counseling, remedial instruction, tutorial services, and a financial aid payment for book expenses.

What is HEOP?
The Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), administered at New York States independent colleges, provides funds for special testing, counseling, tutoring, remedial courses, and financial assistance for academically motivated students who are under-prepared for college because of an economic and educational disadvantage.

What is STEP/C-STEP?
The Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) and the Collegiate-Science and Technology Entry Program (C-STEP) prepare students for professional or pre-professional study in scientific, technical, and health-related fields. These programs assist underrepresented minority or economically disadvantaged students in elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels.

What is Bundy Aid?
Bundy Aid is the name for the Direct Institutional Aid program that was established in 1968 to encourage effective partnership between public and independent higher education within New York State. The program provides direct unrestricted payments to New York State's 108 independent colleges and universities each year, based on degrees actually conferred on students.
