CAMPUS PROJECT COORDINATOR
Description:
The New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) seeks a qualified candidate for a project coordinator position at one of its 21 college campus chapters.

NYPIRG's project coordinators gain invaluable, hands-on leadership and organization skills and candidates are provided a rewarding, meaningful and exciting work experience and the opportunity to train the next generation of activists.

Responsibilities include:

Training Student Activists
Recruit and train college students in civic action skills, including media outreach, event organizing and coalition building. The project coordinator is also responsible for designing and overseeing an intern class with regular workshops for course credit.

Organizing Grassroots Campaigns

You will recruit volunteers; build coalitions with student, community and civic organizations; and coordinate public education campaigns. The ideal candidate is a versatile and energetic person who can communicate effectively ã from recruiting scores of participants to testifying at public hearings to organizing and participating in press events.

Training:
A key part of NYPIRG's mission is to train leaders who can develop and lead social justice campaigns. Each year, project coordinators go through a minimum two weeks of training, with workshops conducted by NYPIRG's issue experts and campaign organizers. Project coordinators also participate in regular regional trainings and statewide conferences.

Additional Qualifications:
Applicants should have strong interpersonal communication, writing, and public speaking skills, as well as a commitment to social change and a desire to work with college students. Some travel required. A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required. Experience with student organizations, campaigns, or media is helpful.

How to apply:
Email cover letter and resume (MSWord preferred) as attachments to campusjobs@nypirg.org attn: Recruitment Coordinator. This position is open immediately. NYPIRG is an EOE.
